Measurement and Evaluation Unit

About the unit

The Measurement and Evaluation Unit is one of the units that focuses on reforming the educational process by improving the measurement of targeted learning outcomes through various evaluation processes at the faculty. The unit strives for the continuous development of evaluation and examination systems using modern methods that include the activation of electronic tests and the measurement of targeted learning outcomes for courses and academic programs within a framework of objectivity and transparency. All units collaborate with the Student Assessment and Evaluation Center at the university to achieve the desired goal of quality learning processes and to ensure that the student master’s all the outputs and objectives of the educational program.

A statement by the unit director

Educational institutions include many units that work on the completion of reform and development of the educational process, which relies on several important factors, the most significant of which is the quality of measurement and evaluation tools and the follow-up on the application and development of various measurement processes. This helps in making constructive and objective decisions in formulating clear steps for developing the educational process on scientific foundations.

Through the continuous review of evaluation processes at the level of theoretical and practical courses in the faculty, it can contribute to modifying and developing the educational system and increase the efficiency and quality of the targeted learning outcomes as documented in the faculty's educational plan. And through measurement and evaluation processes, it can contribute to assessing the validity of the procedures and practices followed in the teaching and learning process, and it plays its role in motivating both students and those involved in the educational process to exert effort to achieve the desired educational goals and improve teaching methods.

  • The interaction between departments and the requirements for the unit's work to complete the exam paper evaluation minutes on time.
  • The difficulty of interacting with the online surveys for several reasons that will be presented and discussed, and solutions will be proposed during the meeting. Among the suggestions to be presented are the following, and additional suggestions can be added during the meeting:
  • The unit proposes holding an emergency meeting that includes all department heads and the faculty's vice deans for educational affairs, student affairs, graduate studies, and the environment. and the Director of the Quality Unit and the Dean of the Faculty with the aim of introducing the unit's work and discussing the mechanism of interaction and response to the unit's requirements from the departments and faculty members.

The unit suggests including all important data such as department names and course names that have been tested each semester for practical and theoretical courses in the online surveys to prevent the occurrence of

Unit tasks

The unit's work includes three main phases.

The first phase: The pre-examination phase

In the first phase, preparations for the testing phase are made, and all departments are instructed on how to set the tests and disseminate the designed exam paper templates, which have been previously documented by the faculty council. It is emphasized that the exam should measure all targeted learning outcomes, whether for practical or theoretical courses. And ensuring that the tests are in accordance with the university's examination system and meet the necessary standards for the quality of the examination paper, and this is done in coordination with all theoretical and practical departments.

Phase Two: During the Exams

Through the second phase during the exams, a set of guidance posters will be distributed and circulated to emphasize the correct procedures during the exams to all control staff, invigilators, supervisors, and students, and to ensure the avoidance of mistakes and problems as much as possible during the conduct of the exams.

Phase Three: After the completion of the exams

The third phase is the evaluation phase for all procedures related to the tests, during which coordination with departments is carried out to form committees to evaluate the test paper to ensure its quality according to the desired quality standards for the educational process.

At this stage, the unit issues numerous reports on the quality of the exam paper, student satisfaction with the evaluation processes, faculty satisfaction with the evaluation processes, and collects opinions and suggestions for improving the measurement and evaluation processes. In addition to numerous statistical analyses of the results and sharing them with the departments to identify strengths and weaknesses and work on improving the overall educational process.

And to achieve the desired quality, the Student Measurement and Evaluation Unit performs the following tasks:

  • Constant communication with the heads of academic departments
  • Providing numerous surveys at both the student and faculty levels. Conducting numerous surveys at both the student and faculty levels.
  • The unit offers lectures and seminars necessary to introduce the culture of evaluation and assessment and its importance in developing university education. • Preparing the necessary reports on all the unit's activities, identifying the strengths and weaknesses in the evaluation processes, and working on developing a future improvement plan to enhance the quality of evaluation processes at the faculty. Unit’s surveys

The surveys conducted by the unit for each semester:

Surveys hold special importance as they reflect the quality of various measurement and evaluation processes. And monitoring the performance of tests and measuring the quality of the test paper in terms of form and content, as well as assessing the extent to which the targeted learning outcomes are achieved, as specified in the course descriptions in particular and the objectives related to the characteristics of the graduates of the Faculty of Art Education in general.

The questionnaires are summarized in the following points:

  • Student satisfaction survey regarding the evaluation processes for theoretical and practical courses at the undergraduate level Student satisfaction survey on evaluation processes for undergraduate theoretical and practical courses
  • Student satisfaction survey regarding the evaluation processes for graduate programs in theoretical and practical courses Student satisfaction survey on the evaluation processes for graduate-level theoretical and practical courses
  • Faculty members' satisfaction survey regarding evaluation processes Survey on faculty members' satisfaction with evaluation processes
  • Questionnaire on the Quality of the Examination Paper for Theoretical and Practical Courses at the Bachelor's Level
  • Questionnaire on the Quality of the Examination Paper for Theoretical and Practical Courses at the Graduate Level
