The Faculty of Art Education is considered one of the complementary systems to the structure of Helwan University, distinguished by its pioneering specialization at the regional and global levels.

This museum includes works by 133 artists. It included heritage works from the faculty's collection spanning over a hundred years; including textile works (Turkish and Iranian), and paintings from the Iranian heritage. And contemporary artworks by prominent artists of the Egyptian visual arts movement in various fields of creativity [painting - sculpture - ceramics - engraving - drawing].

The idea of establishing the museum began with a proposal put forward by Professor Dr. Hamdi Abdallah, former Dean of the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University in 1997, with the aim of:

First, to complete an important element of the educational process in the field of art education, as the faculty is distinguished by its diverse and numerous fields of creativity. The museum achieves this through the study and observation of the artworks it contains and its distinguished models of pioneers of contemporary Egyptian art.

Secondly, there is an educational and artistic aspect, offering innovative examples and models from prominent Egyptian visual artists. This allows pioneers, especially art students, to observe and study the diversity and differences in the approach to a single artistic subject. Which later reflects on them to reveal their artistic styles and to be guided by the pioneers' biographies. It is also considered a field for research and study, and for educating researchers.

Thirdly, it was also among our goals to implement the recommendation of the Supreme Council of Universities to establish a specialized museum in each university to preserve its memory and include the historical journey of various disciplines.
